Biography
Billy Marples

Billy Marples is a Vietnam Veteran artist that combines

painting, sculpture and historic scale models.  He draws

upon inspiration from his own past war experiences and

those of other veterans that he has personally interviewed

for the Veterans History Project.  Billy's first significant

work, The Brecourt Manor Assault by the 101st Airborne

(during the Normandy Invasion of France in WWII), is

permanently on display at the Utah Beach Memorial

Beach Museum in Normandy, France.

Billy has renovated an historical building in the small Danish Village of Kimballton, Iowa where he features a different

artist every few months.  He also has a complete photography studio where he shoots high school senior, family and

veterans photos.  Currently, Billy is involved in a veterans project that will involve the scultping of 20 life size figures

of soldiers from WWII, Korea, Vietnam and the present U.S. led wars.

Billy's favorite pastimes include studying military history, interviewing and spending time with veterans who need to

just sit down and talk about what's going on in their lives without being judged for the things that happened to them

in their war.
